God Will Not Snuff Out the Smouldering Wick
music and lyrics by Bernard Hull
God will not snuff out the smouldering wick,
He won’t extinguish the flame,
He’ll send His Spirit,
To breathe on the embers,
And reignite it once again.
God will not break off the damaged reed,
Though it be battered and sore,
In His compassion,
He’ll gently restore it,
Back to the way it was before.
One young man blew all his money,
Squandered his inheritance,
On living like there’s no tomorrow,
‘Till his money all was spent.
Then he came back to his senses.
Went back to his father’s farm,
And when his father saw him,
He welcomed him with open arms.
God will not snuff out the smouldering wick,
He won’t extinguish the flame,
He’ll send His Spirit,
To breathe on the embers,
And reignite it once again.
God will not break off the damaged reed,
Though it be battered and sore,
In His compassion,
He’ll gently restore it,
Back to the way it was before.
Don’t jump in condemning when another stumbles,
Just remember that you could do the same.
Jesus came to save the world and not condemn it,
Freeing us from all our sin and shame.
God will not snuff out the smouldering wick,
He won’t extinguish the flame,
He’ll send His Spirit,
To breathe on the embers,
And reignite it once again.
God will not break off the damaged reed,
Though it be battered and sore,
In His compassion,
He’ll gently restore it,
Back to the way it was before.
Back to the way it was before.
Back to the way it was before.
Back to the way it was before.
