Wedding Song
(for Ashley and Rebecca)
music and lyrics by Bernard Hull
They look at her room,
Remembering all of her childhood,
Their baby will soon be leaving to start a new life.
See how the years left so many wonderful memories,
The laughter and tears,
The heartache and fears in the night.
It doesn’t seem a moment, since our girl was born,
The years have disappeared without a trace,
Today she will be married,
Can it be so long, since we felt our little darling’s first embrace?
We pray that she’ll be happy all her life,
As she becomes a loving wife,
And may each day bring more of the loving than she had the day before.
In another part of town,
A mother’s son is to be found,
And he wonders what his life will bring,
As he is given his new ring.
He prays that he’ll be happy all his life,
And thanks the Lord for his loving wife,
And from now on they’ll face life together,
Come what may, through the joys and the strife,
As husband and wife.
