When You Think of Christmas

music and lyrics by Bernard Hull

When you think of Christmas,

What image do you see?

Do you think of Santa Claus?

And gifts around the Christmas tree?

Do you think of holidays

And light displays galore,

Of holly wreaths and mistletoe

Adorning your front door?

Do you think of long ago

In a village far away,

Where a newly born baby was asleep on the hay,

Angels announced the news to the shepherds nearby

That the Saviour was born,

Jesus Christ The Lord.

And as he grew,

The people who knew him sang his praise

When he was twelve

He baffled the elders of his day

Do you recall, he healed one and all who came his way.

But in the end, his trusted friends all ran away.

Then by his friend betrayed,

Led in a cruel parade,

Wearing a crown of thorns,

All of his limbs were torn,

Hung on a cross to die,

Bleeding for you and I

Buried within the grave

He gave his life to save you and me.

The grave was not the end,

For Jesus rose again,

He reigns with God on high

And some day, He will return.

What will you do with the baby?

Will you leave him asleep on the hay?

Will you call him a man, and like Judas betray him?

How will you respond to his hand?

Will you stand with the angels and join as they sing,

Hallelujah!

Hallelujah!

Hallelujah to the King! Hallelujah to the King!
