Merry Christmas

music and lyrics by Bernard Hull

A long time ago in a village so far away,

A child was born on the very first Christmas Day.

No room in the inn so they spent the night in a shed

With dirt on the floor and a manger his straw-filled bed

Not far away there were shepherds amongst their flock

When suddenly angels appeared, giving them a shock.

The angels explained they had wonderful news for them

Their Saviour was born in the village of Bethlehem

"Glory to God in the Highest!" their voices rang.

"Peace and good will to all the people of earth," they sang.

The shepherds all ran to the stable where Jesus lay

They hurried to see what the angels announced that day

They found Jesus there in exactly the place they said

All wrapped up in cloths with a manger his comfy bed.

"Glory to God in the Highest!" their voices rang.

"Peace and good will to all the people of earth," they sang.

A long way away in a town over in the east

Some men saw a star and they followed it on their beasts

The star led them on to a village in Israel

To worship the child whose name was Emmanuel

"Glory to God in the Highest!" their voices rang.

"Peace and good will to all the people of earth," they sang.

INSTRUMENTAL

Two thousand years on we still celebrate Jesus birth

Remembering when He descended from Heav'n to Earth

And just like the shepherds we worship the new-born King!

We gather together, we spread Christmas cheer and sing!

Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas…….. (repeat 4x)

Merry Christmas, Yeah!
