The Battle Belongs to The Lord

music and lyrics by Bernard Hull

(Chorus)

The battle belongs to The Father,

The battle belongs to The Lord.

The price has been paid

And our enemy's made

To submit, when we use Jesus' name.

The battle belongs to The Father,

The battle belongs to The Lord.

Resist when the Devil

Would come with his meddling plans,

Flush him right down the drain.

(Verse 1)

Our sins have been nailed with Christ on the tree

And buried with Him in the tomb.

The welts from His whipping bring healing for free,

So Satan cannot consume me!

(Chorus)

(Bridge)

Remember how Gideon went with his army

To fight all the Midianites,

Though vastly outnumbered, they trusted The Lord

And their enemy soon took to flight.

They went into battle with trumpets and torches

And no thought of fighting with swords.

They played and they shouted and none of them doubted

The battle belonged to The Lord.

(Chorus)

(Verse 2)

Now Satan brings problems and filthy disease

And acts like he's just making hay.

Hang on to the promises found in God's Word

And Satan will cry out, "Mayday! Mayday!"

(Chorus)

(Coda)

Send him back whence he came.

The battle belongs to The Lord.
