Witnesses

music and lyrics by Bernard Hull

If these walls could talk,

What wisdom would they bring,

I wonder what they’d say

So much they must have heard

Such knowledge stored within,

Such stories (wonders) they’d convey.

The things that they’ve observed,

Some awesome, some absurd

Built for a Holy purpose

They stand with us today

With all who’ve gone before

For many years

Within these walls

And ‘til we sing the last refrain

The Gospel of Christ crucified

Will extend from this domain

So many dreams and promises

Some yet to be fulfilled

Just look around

I hear the sound of cheering still.

Hundreds of witnesses

Standing in this place

Will us to victory

As we run the race.

As we continue with

The work that they begun

We’ll be God's witnesses

To His Risen Son!

One day in Paradise

We’ll all stand as one!

Joining with Abraham

In praise to God’s own Son

King David will lead the choir

With Psalms loud and strong,

And billions of witnesses

Will join with these witnesses,

These present witnesses

Echoing their song.
